PRE-VOYAGE, OR TRIP MARINE SURVEY
Purpose: To determine if the vessel, her equipment and her crew are capable of making the intended voyage safely. Sometimes required by an insurer when the vessel is going to embark on long distance or trans-oceanic passage making.
Method: Systematic Inspection Process - described at home page. Client: Owner.
User(s): Owner and/or insurance underwriter.
Survey Report Format: Includes: Table of Contents; General Information; Scope of Survey; Standards; Valuation; General Description; Findings and Recommendations (stated, explained and discussed) by major functional system and element (see SIP above); Summary of Recommendations; and, Appendices (pictures, diagrams and charts). This report is usually, twenty (20) pages or more. Heavy focus on vessel structural integrity, safety and survival, and electronics and navigation equipment.
